Speech Contest 2015






Our Speech Contest has two parts:

- Writing your own speech, and
- Speaking using visual aids: powerpoint, posters or an outfit.

1st Part: Writing

Choose a topic and find information about it to help you write your own speech the best you can.

You can choose one of the suggested topics below or come up with a topic of your choice.

Suggested Topics:

*My favorite animals or pets.
*My favorite artist or band.
*My favorite sports and players.
*What I want to be when I grow up.
*Friendship: What is a good friend?
*Natural disasters: Tsunamis, Earthquakes, Volcanos, etc.
*Tell a legend or myth in your words.
*Describe a person you admire.
*Videogames: Are they good or bad for children?
*Current Affairs / World News.
*Pros and Cons of Social Media.
*Favorite Historical Events.
*Places you would like to visit.
*If you could travel to Mars, would you go? Why or why not?





2nd Part: Speaking

Memorize your speech well and speak clearly. 
Use eye contact with the audience to sound convincing.
Use visual aids like slides, posters, pictures, costumes, etc.

Third graders should speak 1 to 2 minutes.



Fourth graders should speak  1 1/2  to 2 1/2 minutes.


Fifth graders should speak  2 to 3 minutes.


Speech Contest Timeline:

June 22nd to 26th : Project development in classroom. 

*Students will bring information to write down their speeches.

June 30th to July 3rd: In-class Semifinals. 

*Students from each classroom will be selected to compete in the Finals.

August 3rd- 4th- 5th: Speech Contest Finals.



1st, 2nd and 3rd place winners will be recognized.


First Place Awards will be given  at the end of the year.
